Introduction to cars under $1000
Dirt cheap price
That's right, for under 1000 dollars you can buy a car at a fair condition. With a little of repair you can turn this car into a carrier for you to go to school, to work, and travel around.
Did I mention it's dirt cheap? Yes, for that type of price you can not even dream off. I remember in Australia buying a $2500 car is already a lucky deal. In the US it seem like everyone is selling cars at a usable condition for a give-away price.
It's all about online
Tap into the stream of online car auctions now and enjoy shopping for car bargains. You can find all sort of brand and make that suit your need.
Did you struggle all the way to the car dealer just to know the cheapest car is for few thousands. No more dealers, buy directly from the car owner at online auction now because they need money and they will give you a low price.
Why so cheap?
People have all sort of reasons for selling their car. The common reason would be "it's broken". You should avoid this type of cars. But hey! You run into this type of sale more often in the newspaper ads, right?
Don't worry, because the other common reasons, which are more favorable to you, would be that:
- They really broke, so they need the cash
- They upgraded to a brand new car now, so this is their junk
- They can't afford the cost of running a car anymore.
For whatever good reason, hurey! Now you found a car that's in really good condition for dirt cheap price, no big repair, no hidden expenses.
Don't worry, with auction listing you can check all the specs without having to test drive. And the sellers are honest too, because if they aren't honest, they will get suspended and the money will be refunded to you.
Prepare to buy a car under $1000
Follow these simple steps and I'm sure you will get a real usable car for cheap.
- Read the description carefully, especially the car condition.
- Read the reason why the owner want to sell the car. Is it badly broken or simply they want to get rid of it for good? That is, check their honesty.
- Read every specs carefully and determine if the car is right for you.
- Bid some low amount once, so that it add to your list and you will get email reminder every time someone outbid you.
- If you don't want to bid yet, simply add the item to watch list.
How to bid a car under $1000?
Now there are two type of bids. Proxy bidding and snipe bidding. Follow the method that suit you.
Proxy bidding
Really simple, all you do is
- bid as high as you can pay.
- If someone outbid you, reevaluate the price and if you can afford more, repeat step 1.
Tips:
- High chance is that someone else will try to out bid you and if you don't look after it you will get outbid.
- If you are lucky, people will give up and you will end up with a very high final bid price.
- In extreme case, no one else will bid for it, and you can take it for super low price. But think: "why no one bid?"
WARNING: Most people after commit this mistake will quit and get their account suspended after few times doing same thing. (quitter)
Snipe bidding
Hard, but rewarding. Follow these steps:
- Set a price for yourself (secretly). For example $800. But don't bid yet.
- Come back when the auction nearly end (5 minutes). See if someone else bid on it. If the bid count are low, high chance for you.
- Before the auction end (30 seconds) place your final bid at the price lower than your expected (let's say $750) but above the last bidder says like ($50).
Tips: You may want to do an initial bid of really low price so that you will get notification every time someone outbid you. But this is risky because the other bidders will get alert of the competition. Higher competition means less chance you will win.
WARNING: This method rock, but it's black hat. It's not illegal but it will piss the seller off getting too low final price. The seller may quit (run away). So play fair, if you think it's worth how much pay that much.
It may be reserved.
That's the ugly thing of the US auction to the buyers (nice to seller). The seller can set a reserve price. In this case, your best shot is to do 2 things:
- Contact the seller and try to ask how much is the minimum bid.
- Do a snipe:
- Snipe with the price a little higher than the reserve price.
- If they don't answer, just snipe it at highest shot you can.
Avoid this trouble by browsing only the NO RESERVE cars under $1000.
